These wooden slide-whistles are a simple, timeless design where pulling the animal head to and from the main whistle body changes the tone of the whistle itself. Sure, they might be out of place in front of an orchestra, but they're a great introduction for kids to take an early interest in music and later move on to more advanced instruments!

Note: Whistles often come with a little residual sawdust inside from manufacture, and slides can be a bit tight at first until worn in. For small children, an adult should ideally blow the whistle first to clear out this sawdust, along with turning and twisting (never bending) the slide so that it loosens up and moves smoothly back and forth when given to the child.

*Plastic Notice: Many whistles come with a small piece of shrink-wrap clear plastic over the mouthpiece simply to keep it clean and hygienic.
